Over 19,000 high schools provide nearly 8 million young people the opportunity to participate in interscholastic sports. According to recent studies, less than half of Black male student-athletes who receive an athletic scholarship as a result of their high school athletic performance will earn a college degree.
While there are many determinants of college degree completion, arriving at college academically prepared to do college-level work is among the most predictive factors of collegiate success. Studies confirm that opportunities for enrolling in rigorous academic courses are not always distributed equitably and racial/ethnic and socioeconomic disparities in educational attainment persist.
With our network of experts and resources, and our unique sensitivity to the issues, we can help ensure that participants develop the motivation and work ethic, receive the academic support and encouragement, and are otherwise prepared to get to and through college and into successful careers.
